Bring Your Own Projects! Sewing, Alterations & Upcycling:
Got a dress that needs taking in? A broken zip you've been meaning to replace? A charity shop find you'd love to transform? Or an unfinished sewing project that's been sitting in a drawer?
Bring it along to a fun, friendly sewing session at Alice Enderby's colourful dressmaking studio in Bedminster, Bristol!
These relaxed, small-group workshops are an opportunity to work on your own alterations, repairs and upcycling projects with expert guidance from an MA-qualified dressmaker and creative pattern cutter.
Whether you're learning new skills, tackling a tricky alteration or simply looking for a welcoming space to sew alongside other creative people, you're very welcome!

All skill levels are welcome, although some basic familiarity with your sewing machine is helpful.
What to bring

Your own sewing machine – Though some are available if you need, please message first

Your chosen alteration, repair or upcycling project.

Any fabric, thread, zips, buttons or other materials your project might require however there are boxes of scraps and remnants available. Most zips threads and notions provided though if you need something particular you'll need to bring it.

Make Your Own Perfectly Fitting Dress Pattern!
Imagine having a dress pattern that's made just for YOU
one you can use again and again to create beautiful dresses in your favourite fabrics!
Join for a fun, creative day of dressmaking and pattern cutting at my colourful studio in Bedminster, Bristol.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to create and personalise a dress pattern to suit your own measurements and body shape, rather than relying on standard shop-bought sizing.
With a maximum of just four students per workshop, you'll receive plenty of individual attention, guidance and support throughout the day.
What you'll learn
- How to understand and work with a dress sewing pattern.
- How to adapt a pattern to your individual measurements.
- How to create a toile (a practice version of your dress) to assess the fit.
- How to identify and correct common fitting issues.
- How to transfer your alterations back onto your paper pattern.
- How to create a reusable dress pattern for future sewing projects.
The aim is for you to leave with your own personalised dress pattern, along with the knowledge and confidence to use it again.

What to bring
Please bring your own sewing machine if possible. A limited number of machines may be available to borrow by prior arrangement, so please contact me before booking if you need one.
You should also bring your usual sewing essentials, including fabric scissors, pins and any favourite sewing tools.
All specialist pattern-cutting and toile materials are included.
Some previous experience using a sewing machine is recommended, but you don't need any prior pattern-cutting experience.
